Whats new?

Your asking me whats new huh? Well not too much. I found out at my job that I will be working with the Asbestos shop until I start my techschool for retraining. If you guys didn't know, im in the military (Air Force) and my current job is Structures (vertical) which is pretty much a Carpenter/Welder in CE. I am retraining into being a videographer. Thats a cool thing that I will be at the Asbestos shop because I dont wear my military uniform (BDU's) which doing that job and so far I been in that job for 5 months. So its like being in the military but not really cause I dont wear the uniform. Lately I just been hanging out at home, playing with my new still camera (Canon Digital Rebel) and watchin alot of movies with my girl. I been making alot more money lately doing album covers, flyers & websites this past month. Thats always a good thing to make more money. I know I been slacking on posting on my blog lately but I have been spending alot more time on my forum trying to get everything up to speed and also got alot going on there as far as contests go. If you guys read this blog but dont go to my forum, well I suggest it. You will find out a ton more about me on my site & forum since this blog is fairly new. Not too much more to say because right now im finally watching "The Soprano's" for the first time, im on Episode 3 right now. BTW, that reminds me, if anyone knows a good program to make DVD copies on a mac, something like 'DVDShrink' for windows. But I want one for MAC. Let me know!

iPod 0WNz

Apple's iPod and iPod mini had a 82% market share among hard drive-based portable music players in the last year, according to August figures from market research firm NPG Group. For all types of portable music players, Apple market share was 41.9%, the company told The Mac Observer, Monday.

A published report from Bloomberg News on Monday mistakingly gave the impression the 82% share was for all players.

The figure are for the month of August and are for US retail stores only, excluding direct sales and other online sales. The numbers are calculated using a percentage of actual unit sales reported by major retailers, such as Apple's retail stores, together with consumers surveys of buying habits.

The 82% market share of hard drive-based players is up from 64% from a year ago and 33% from two years ago, NPD said.

Among hard drive-based players, Creative Technology placed far second with a 3.7% share, followed by Rio at 3.2%.

Among all portable music players - hard drive-based as well as flash-based - Apple was first with 41.9%, Rio in second with 10.0%, iRiver in third with 9.3%, and RCA in fourth with 9.0%.

iPod = Color Screen/60GB's

Why do they always seem to make something bigger and better than the thing I just bought recently. Sucks huh? Technology is so damn cool but it seems that it is always getting better too fast to keep up. You gotta either be rich or spend ALL your money on technology products. Oh well, check it out. GMail FileSystem!

Turn your GMail account into a 1GB of off-site storage:

GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google GMail account, allowing you to use GMail as a storage medium.

GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google GMail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your GMail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to.

This is a great way to backup your important docs. The only downside is that it's limited to 10MB per file (the GMail attachement limit). Hopefully future versions will break up large files, then upload. Cool app though.. Thanks to 'Digital Wizard' for the link.

Cool Rocket Video

From BoingBoing:

In this clip (wmv), a wonderful bit of video from a camera in Peter Clay's two-staged Quantum Leap rocket. A few seconds into the flight, the fins appear to warp and distort. There's a raging debate over whether this was an optical illusion or an actual spasm in the fiberglass as the model plows through the "sound barrier."
